Former Kenyan President Mwai Kibaki is dead
Former President Mwai Kibaki, who served as the third president of the Republic of Kenya from 2002 to 2013, passed away at the age of 90.
Flags were lowered at half-mast and mourning was declared
President Uhuru Kenyatta announced the death of former President Mwai Kibaki in a statement on the day.
We remember the values by which he lived, the ideals he embraced, his dignity and diligence, his candor and concern for the well being of all Kenyans, His contributions as minister of finance and the vice president saw Kenya’s economy grow steadily fuelled by a commodities boom as well as fiscal and monetary policies that were the backbone of his economic philosophy.” Uhuru said.
