DRC: schedules presidential elections for Dec 2023

The electoral authorities in the DRC announced on Saturday that the general elections will be organized on December 20th next year.

“The electoral commission calls for the involvement of all stakeholders in the electoral process in order to guarantee its success”, declared Denis Kadima, head of the electoral commission during a ceremony to present the electoral calendar, broadcast on television. 

The elected president will be sworn in on January 20, 2024. 

The electoral campaign for the presidential, national and provincial legislative candidates will run from November 19 to December 18 next year.

The senators will be elected in the provincial assemblies on February 24, 2024.

For the first time, the electoral centre schedules local and municipal elections. The mayors and their deputies will be elected on May 27, 2024.
