Dr. Muyembe heralded: Ebola is no longer a threat
In the Democratic Congo, where cases of the Ebola virus are beginning to resurface, health experts on Friday reassured people that the Ebola pandemic is no longer a threat because the country now has an Ebola vaccine and medicines.
Speaking on behalf of his colleagues at the press conference of the US ambassador to Kinshasa about COVID-19, Epidemiologist Dr. Jean-Jacques Muyembe said that Ebola disease can be treated and cured with new vaccines and drugs.
“We believe that if the origin of this disease is identified, the current epidemic will be quickly contained. We are talking about the first case from Boende. We do not know whether it was infected in Boende or Mbandaka. That is the basic question. Epidemiologists are working on it.”
