Ahmet Yesevi Commemorated in South Africa

Among the schools in Johannesburg and Pretoria, South Africa, the Embassy in Kazakhstan, and the Johannesburg Institute for Yunus Emre, Hodja Ahmet Yesevi’s 855th memory of the anniversary of the death, the inter-school essay contest was held.
In this respect, the first major Turkish Hodja Ahmet Yesevi known in history is mentioned in the Gauteng province of the Republic of South Africa.
The inter-school article competition was held at the Yunus Emre Institute of Johannesburg on 3 March 2022. The ceremony ended with a certificate presentation.
Ambassador and diplomatic representatives in South Africa, senior officials from the South African Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Minister Naledi Pandor as well as Nelson Mandela’s eldest granddaughter Ndileka Mandela attended the event.
In the program held on the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Kazakhstan and the Republic of South Africa and between Kazakhstan and Türkiye, Turkish Ambassador of Pretoria Ayşegül Kandaş and Kazakhstan Ambassador Kanat Tumysh made speeches.
After the speech of the Turkish Ambassador of Pretoria Ayşegul Kandaş and Ambassador of Kazakhstan Kanat Tumysh, the awards were presented to the students.
“We are pleased to organize cultural events with the other embassies in South Africa, especially with the Turkish embassies of common culture such as Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan as the Pretorian Embassy of the Republic of Türkiye. ” Ambassador Kandaş said.
