Ethiopia prime minister Abiy Ahmed and his spouse Zinash Tayachew attended the 3rd Belt and Road Forum held in Beijing.
Abiy Ahmed said, “Africa is now realising its potential and capacity, with the formerly side-lined continent harnessing its demographic dividend and natural resources and becoming an economic, political and social powerhouse” in his speech at the Forum.
“We cannot be idle observers in forums that affect common well being,” he added.
Ahmed also met and conferred with Dilma Rousseff, the President of the New Devolopment Bank, on the sidelines of the Forum.
In the day before the Forum, Ahmed and Chinese President Xi Jinping held bileteral meeting, and the two announced elevating the bilateral ties to an “all-weather strategic partnership,” in a joint statement.
