AfDB offers plans to seek new grain supply routes
According to a plan described by the African Development Bank (AfDB) and its partners, it will be part of Africa’s next program to prevent famine on the continent for better local productivity and sustainability of food supply channels.
AfDB said it would provide up to 1.5 billion dollars in funding to overcome a possible food crisis on the continent by supporting local production within the scope of the Emergency Food production facility.
At the point of developing capacity, Canada said it would provide $78 million in funds to help local food producers increase their productivity.
The money will go to buy certified seed, fertilizer and better agricultural technology for 20 million farmers on the continent.
